BBQ AT ITS BEST!!
The 3rd annual R’ Kansas City state championship BBQ contest will be held on April 26th and 27th, 2013, at the Agri-Business Building, 712 W. Washington Ave., in Arkansas City, Kansas. Pitmasters are welcomed and encouraged to come to south central Kansas and cook against some of the best teams in the region. $5000 in cash prizes will be handed out, with payouts to tenth place in chicken, ribs, pork and brisket. In addition, there will also be a sausage and dessert category, with 100% payout to the top three teams in each category. Come and help us make this the best contest yet!
CHECK IN: Check in for the BBQ Contest will commence on Friday, April 26th, at approximately 9 AM. A contest representative will be there at all times to assist you with finding your space, ice needs, meat, sanitary and safety inspections at your leisure. If for any reason you would need to arrive on Thursday, please contact us at the number on your cook’s application and we will make sure you get settled.
COOK’S MEETING: The cook’s meeting will be held Friday, April 26th at 7PM. Last year, many of our pitmasters did not arrive until late, so to accomodate as many of you as we possibly can, we will have the meeting at 7. Ice will be available at all times and an event rep will be on hand also.
SUPRISE SUPRISE!!: This year, we will be adding a bit of a twist to the regular run of things. The R’ Kansas City Championshio BBQ is the third stop in a whirlwind tour which we are calling the Annual Tornado Alley Pitmaster’s Challenge.
